Here are some cool facts about Geckos
that might amaze you.

Crested geckos have a semi-prehensile tail which they use to assist in climbing.

The tail can be dropped as a deterrent to predators.

Unlike some other geckos, once they lose their tail, it will not grow back; however, this is not as harmful to the gecko as it is in other species.

Leopard geckos cannot climb up smooth surfaces because they do not have toe pads like most geckos.

Leopard geckos shed their skin to prevent their scent from being detected.

Like many lizards, the leopard gecko has a tail, which breaks off readily when grabbed by a predator. This permits the gecko to get away if attacked.

Day geckos do not have claws, but their toes have thin, broad, adhesive scales (called lamellae), which allow them to climb smooth surfaces.

Their eyes are large, with round pupils ringed in bright blue.

Their tails are as long (or longer) than their bodies.

Adults can grow up to 10 inches (25 centimeters) long.
